Bushel

Bushel
A unit of dry measure, used of grain. One bushel = eight gallons. While there was an *assize in every town to regulate measures and ensure accuracy, there was no standard, nationwide measure. However, by the 14c, when the crown issued instructions, the bushel measure used at Winchester was used as the standard. Also used to indicate a great deal of something.
